The recommended alternative includes queue jumps for use by BRTand other buses at congested intersections along the corridor, new BRT stationswith level boarding and off-board payment, Transit Signal Priority, purchase ofnew 60-foot articulated vehicles, and other associated pedestrian and bicycleimprovements along the corridor. The study retains curbside dedicated lanes asthe long-term BRT alternative for Veirs Mill Road. |

Bus Rapid Transit: MD 355 | Transit | Director's Office | Planned | Ride the Flash | The MD 355 FLASH will provide upgraded, frequent, and reliable service between Downtown Bethesda and Clarksburg along the MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike/Frederick Road) corridor. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is studying different alternatives for FLASH on MD 355. Upon completion of the study, MCDOT will identify a single “Recommended Alternative” – which includes the BRT route, station locations, and engineering features – that can be advanced toward design and implementation in phases. The MD 355 BRT will be part of the County’s FLASH BRT system with amenities like upgraded stations, real-time information, free Wi-fi, and quick boarding features. |
